The Discovery Johannesburg Primary Schools Soccer Programme hosts a series of soccer tournaments for primary schools in Johannesburg.
The partnership with Discovery started in 2009 and involves schools that are affiliated to the Johannesburg Primary Schools Football Association. The programme kicks off with the area trial and the Discovery Festival in May, and proceeds to the Discovery Knock-Out Cup preliminary rounds in June, leading to the finals in August.
A total of 120 primary schools take part in the Knock-Out Cup. Six age groups from U9 to U14 take part in elimination rounds in their categories, which start in May, culminating in the finals in August. Last year, six age groups from under 9 to under 14 were involved in the finals vying for the right to be Discovery Knock-Out Cup Champions in their respective categories.
We are proud of our girls who have represented us well – both on and off the field.
Meet the future Banyana Banyana who have managed to come back home with a Silver medal. We are extremely proud and look forward to the next competition.
Well done girls!
